*MAR 22 - JOHN 3:22-4:54 - JESUS REVEALS HOLY SPIRIT: TRUE DRINK*
*1. 3:29-30 (3:22-30) JESUS: WITNESSED TO BY JOHN. “Who has the bride is
the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, that stands and hears
him, joys in joy because of the voice of the bridegroom: this my :joy
therefore is made full. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease” (NNT). *John
saw that redeemed man is Your bride for Your Son, Father! May we be
unselfish like John, and give ourselves to increase Christ! *Hallowed be
your :name.*
*2. 3:36 (3:31-36) JESUS: OBJECT OF OUR FAITH. “Who believes unto the Son
has eternal life; but who disobeys the Son shall not see life, but the
wrath of :God abides on him.” *You gave the Spirit to Jesus Father, *without
measure*! *All* of You abides in Him! No other man, but the last Adam, has
been so favored. We will believe in Him and *obey Him*. *Your :kingdom come!
*
*3. 4:10 (4:1-26) JESUS AND THE WOMAN OF SAMARIA. Jesus answered and said
to her, “If you knew the gift of :God, and who it is that says to you, Give
me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living
water.” *Your Son baptizes us into Your Spirit Father, and makes us
fountains of living water! *This* is what Jesus offered the Samaritan
woman! *Your :will be done, As in heaven, so on earth.*
*4. 4:28-29 (4:27-30) JESUS: WITNESSED TO BY SAMARITAN WOMAN. So the woman
left her :water-pot and went away into the city, and said to the men,
29“Come, see a man, who told me all
things that I did: can this be the Christ?” *Here is an instant convert,
and an instant evangelist! Father, we marvel at what Your Son Jesus
accomplished. O forgive us that we limit Him, the Holy One of Israel, and
prevent Your Son from doing such works through us! *Our :daily :bread Give
us this day!*
*5. 4:35 (4:31-38) JESUS: ON THE HARVEST. “Say not YOU that there are yet
four months, and then comes the harvest? Lo, I say unto you, Lift up your
:eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white unto harvest.” *Probably
the disciples saw the Samaritan village streaming to Jesus! Father, how You
would be with us in Christ to accomplish similar things through us for the
nations of the world! *And forgive us our :debts, As we also have forgiven
our :debtors.*
*6. 4:39 (4:39-42) JESUS: BELIEVED ON BY SAMARITANS! “And from that :city
many of the Samaritans believed unto him because of the word of the woman,
who witnessed [that], He told me all things that I did.” *What grace!
Believers coming from the words of a new convert! Others she brought
believed for Jesus' words. Father, we would move in You in this same Spirit
and see fruit for you. *And bring us not into temptation.*
*7. 4:53-54 (4:43-54) JESUS: HEALS A NOBLEMAN'S SON. “The father therefore
knew that it was at that :hour in which :Jesus said unto him, Your :son
lives: and himself believed, and his whole :house. 54 Now this is again a
second sign that :Jesus did coming out of :Judea into :Galilee.” *This
Treasure is in earthen vessels; but what Treasure we contain : It is
*You*Father in Christ by the Spirit! O we magnify You for this
*sign* of your Son! *But deliver us from the evil one!*
*NOTE**: 4:23-24 (4:1-26) JESUS: DEFINES **TRUE WORSHIPERS. “But an hour
comes, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in
spirit and truth: for even such the Father seeks as his :worshipers.
22:God is Spirit: and who worship him must worship in spirit and
truth.”
*O let us hear Your heart's cry, Father! You *seek* little, but You *do seek
* for us as worshipers. We would gladden Your heart and fulfill Your desire!
For me - the introduction of the word “gift - d*o*-reA” by Jesus is the
significant part of this section. In *pedagogy*, repetition is a key part
of teaching. Derek Prince used this principle again and again. Each time he
resumed a teaching, he would recapitulate the high points of his preceding
talk. He knew that sometimes it was on the 100th hearing of a subject, that
someone would say - “O - *that's* what he's been getting at all this time!”
So those of you who have received and understood this truth - bare with me
and those who have not yet had it “click” in their understanding!
11 times in the NT this word appears. The law of first reference normally
gives us the definition of that word. Here Jesus tells the woman of Samaria
that the gift - d*o*-reA is like an artesian well. Once received, it
continues to bubble up in our being as long as we give it opportunity. To
fail in this exercise - is to fall into the category of Hebrews 6:4-6,
which is the 11th and last reference to this word. *“For as to those who
were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly :gift, and became
partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and tasted the good word of God, and the
powers of the age to come, 6 and fell away, it is impossible to renew
themagain unto repentance; they crucifying again to themselves and
openly
shaming the Son of :God.” *
Does God know who of us will *endure* until the end? Of course. This is
soil 4 of the parable of the soils. There is no promise of salvation in
soil 1, 2 or 3 - only in soil 4! And in soil 4 Jesus points out that there
is a 3-fold possibility: 30, 60 and 100-fold. Soil one doesn't even enter
into the picture before the birds of the air (a type of Satain) take the
good seed.
You and I are unable to tell who is of soil 2 & 3 - but - time quickly
exposes soil 2; and later on soil 3 becomes apparent with its 3-fold attack.
Jesus clearly said - *“He that endures to the end - the same shall be
saved.” *Eternal Security only abides in the endurance of soil 4. So is
there eternal security? Of course. But it is more difficult than some would
make it in truly declaring it - and not as impossible as others would make
it, as a distinct possibility.
A new book is soon to come out by Lyndell Enns of Canada entitled
“Catholics and Protestants in Hell?” It will not make easy reading for many
- though it is a relatively short book. But it will be one of the most
important books to digest and act upon - that has come out in a long time.
It hews true and close to the Word of God - cutting through the smog of
human thinking and denominationalism. It particularly majors on the
11threference to our word under consideration in this article.
Acts 2:28 is its second NT appearance, which reads, *“And Peter said unto
them, Repent and be baptized each of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto
remission of your :sins; and you shall receive the gift - do-reA - of the
Holy Spirit.” *Note that repentance and faith, the two words required to
experience true conversion, precede baptism. When repentance alone is
mentioned, it assumes the presence of faith, for the two are two sides of
the same coin - producing conversion. *Then* follows baptism, which does
not save, for the dying thief on the cross beside Jesus did not experience
it. It is Jesus' “Finished Word” on Calvary that *alone* saves. Repentance
and Faith are the keys to open the door to Christ's provision. Baptism was
a command, and follows true conversion. See how carefully the apostles in
the book of Acts obeyed this. But then, comes and immediately follows the
promise of the gift - d*o*-reA. In NT times it normally followed the laying
on of hands, but not entirely. For in Acts 10 & 11, we read that Cornelius
and his Roman friends and family received the d*o*-reA directly from God in
heaven!
The other 8 reference to this gift one can find in Strong's Concordance.

And now our Psalm for the day: *82:3-4 (82:1-8) RESCUE THE WEAK AND NEEDY.
“Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the
afflicted and the destitute. 4 Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them
from the hand of the wicked.” *Father, this is near to Your heart. Make us
like the good Samaritan. *Hallowed be your :name!*
