 *MAR 23 - JOHN 5:1-47 - JESUS: CONTROVERSY THROUGH A HEALING*


 *1. 5:1 JESUS: AT A JEWISH FEAST. “After these things was a feast of the
Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem” (NNT). *We will *not* have this man
reign over us (Luke 19:14). This was Your will Father, for Jesus. You sent
Him as a King to reign; but His own, the Jews, rejected Him. But we
recognize Him as Messiah, King of kings and Lord of lords! *Hallowed be
your :name!*


 *2. 5:8-9a (5:2-9a) JESUS: HEALS AN IMPOTENT MAN. “:Jesus said to him,
Arise, take up your :bed, and walk. 9a And straightway the man became
whole, and took up his :bed and walked.” *What power! What Majesty You
manifested through Your Son Jesus, Father! Not one word He spoke; not one
miracle He did - but was initiated by *You*! He was a *perfect servant*,
the Son of God, the Son of man! *Your :kingdom come!*


 *3. 5:24 (5:9b-27) JESUS: PERSECUTED BY THE JEWS. “Amen, Amen, I say unto
you [that], Who hears my :word, and believes him that sent me, has eternal
life, and comes not into judgment, but has passed out of :death into
:life.” *How this must have angered the Jews who received not Your Son
Father, as Your choice as the Son of man! But we believe He *is* the Son of
God, the Messiah; and that life comes through faith in Him and in His Name!
*Your :will be done, As in heaven, so on earth!*


 *4. 5:28-29 JESUS: CONFIRMS THE RESURRECTION. “Marvel not at this:
for thehour comes, in which all they in the tombs shall hear his
:voice,
29 and shall come forth; who have done the good things, unto resurrection
of life; who have practiced the evil things, unto resurrection of
judgment.” *What an amazing revelation! But we believe it! O forgive us
Father, that ofttimes our faith is weak! *Help* our unbelief! *Our :daily
:bread Give us this day!*


 *5. 5:30 JESUS: PERFECT SERVANT OF THE FATHER. “I can of myself do
nothing: as I hear, I judge: and :my :judgment is righteous; because I seek
not MY :will, but the will of him that sent me.” *We marvel at the humility
and perfect servant spirit of Your Son, Father! He is a personification of *
all* the Beatitudes! *And forgive us our :debts, As we also have forgiven
our :debtors.*


 *6. 5:33-35 (5:31-40) JESUS: HIS DOUBLE WITNESS. “You have sent unto John,
and he has witnessed to the truth. 34 But I receive not the witness from
man: however, I say these things, that YOU be saved. 35 HE was the burning
and shining :lamp; and YOU were willing to rejoice for an hour in his
:light.” *The prophecies of the Old Covenant point to Your Son Jesus,
Father. We pray to You in heaven and in Him. We worship You and trust You! *And
lead us not into temptation.*


 *7. 5:44 (5:41-47) JESUS: HONORED BY MOSES. “How can YOU believe,
receiving glory one of another, and the glory :from the only God you seek
not?” *For many, the fear of man exceeds the fear of You, Father! How
tragic! *But deliver us from the evil one!*


 *NOTE**: 5:19 (9b-27) JESUS' EYE ON THE FATHER! “:Jesus therefore answered
**and said to them, Amen, Amen, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of
himself, but what he sees the Father doing: for whatever things HE does,
these the Son also does likewise.” *Father, as Jesus did nothing apart form
You, we would please You by doing nothing apart from Him!


 Jesus was born a Jew into a Jewish family (descendants of King David) - as
the “Son of man.” But as a true Jew - not a Pharisee, he was Torah
Observant, but not man's “Tradition Oriented rules.” He kept the
Torah, but not the Talmud or Mishnah.


 But He came to inaugurate a New Covenant, namely Himself! which made Him *
Lord* of the Sabbath - not captivated by the Torah. And in 70 AD, just as
He prophesied, the Temple was destroyed by Titus, Roman Caesar, and no
longer could Jews be fully Torah Observant, for 200 of the 613 Torah
commands were Temple oriented. *Now* - what Jesus accomplished in His
Finished Work at Calvary, fulfilled all Torah Types and Shadows! Gentiles
were freed from being Torah Observant - and even Paul and Peter when with
Gentiles - *ate with them*!


 So - all this controversy Jesus underwent in His 3-year earthly ministry -
was really the death-pangs - and birth-pangs of the ending of the Old
Covenant and the birthing of the New. The Book of Hebrews spells this out
theologically speaking in a *full* manner.


 So why did God have Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration with
His Son - speaking of His rejection and death for the *sin* of the world?
For it was the *sin-question* Adam introduced to the world through
disobedience through the medium of Satan - that Jesus looked after.
Individual sins are merely the fruit that naturally follows the sin that
entered the world through Adam - namely the nature and essence of Satan. We
are *all* born with this. See Ephesians 2:2, which reveals that we once
walked according to *the prince of the power of the air*, of *the
spirit*that now works in the sons of disobedience. (The Book of
Hebrews contrasts
Jesus with Moses, to answer the above question.)


 To thoroughly understand the significance of *this* verse, is to
understand the above. The law, the Torah, was given as a schoolmaster to
keep our sin and disobedient nature *in check*, until Jesus came as *our
New Covenant* Himself, and through fulfilling the Type of Passover and
Pentecost, imparted into us *His nature*, *His heritage*, which replaces
all the types and Shadows of the Old Covenant - and all the wickedness and
deception of Satan through Adam.


 George Muller saw this Truth extremely clearly. God would have us to see
and understand it clearly also. The Book of Galatians is a key book to help
us from again being enslaved in the Old. The Book of Hebrews also.


 We today are in a day of transition. The Invisible Kingdom of God ushered
into the hearts of believers 2000 years ago, is about to be manifested
openly by the Return of Jesus as Judge, King of kings and Lord of lords -
to rule in peace for 1000 years over all the earth through Israel. This
will be a *true* replacement of the unworthy United Nations.


 Even so, come *quickly*, Lord Jesus!


 And now - our Psalm for the day! *83:5b-8 (83:1-18) O GOD, DO NOT KEEP
SILENCE! “Against you they make a covenant - 6 the tents of Edom and the
Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, 7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia
with the inhabitants of Tyre; 8 Asshur also has joined them; they are the
strong arm of the children of Lot. Selah” *O Jehovah Father, it is for the
honor of Your Name that we ask You to deliver us from our enemies! And
Israel from the above 10 nations also! *Hallowed be your :name! *
