*MAR 10 - LUKE 20-21 - MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY*
*1. 20:25-26 (20:1-26) JESUS: CONFUTES HIS ENEMIES. “And he [Jesus] said
unto them, Then render to Caesar Caesar's things: and to :God, :God's.
26And they were not able to take hold of the saying before the people:
and
they marveled at his :answer, and were silent.” *Here is the *wisdom* and *
power* of Your Kingdom in Jesus, Father! *Hallowed be your :name!*
*2. 20:37-38 (20:27-44) JESUS: SILENCES HIS ENEMIES. “But that the dead are
raised, even Moses showed, in the Bush passage, when he calls the Lord the
God of Abraham, and God of Isaac, and God of Jacob. 38 Now he is not God of
the dead, but of the living: for all live to him.” *From now on there is
nothing Jesus' enemies can do to Him apart from His destruction. May we too
risk martyrdom if need be. *Your :kingdom come.*
*3. 20:46-47 (20:45-47) JESUS: WARNS AGAINST THE SCRIBES. “Beware of the
scribes, who desire to walk in robes, and love salutations in the markets,
and chief seats in the synagogues, and chief places at the feasts; 47 who
devour the houses of the widows, and for a pretense make long prayers: these
shall receive greater condemnation.” *Let us, Father, speak as Your Son
Jesus! *Your :will be done, As in heaven, so on earth.*
*4. 21:3-4 (21:1-4) JESUS: SPIRIT OF STEWARDSHIP. “And he said, I tell you
truly that this :poor :widow cast in more than they all: 4 for all these did
of their :superfluity cast in unto the gifts; but SHE of her :want cast in
all the living that she had.” *This is an *important* revelation! *Our
:daily :bread Give us this day.*
*5. 21:8 (21:5-9) JESUS FORETELLS DESTRUCTION OF THE TEMPLE. “And he said,
See you be not led astray: for many shall come in my :name, saying, I am he;
and, The season is near; go you not after them.” *Father, deliver us from
deception, delusion and seduction! *And forgive us our :debts, As we also
have forgiven our :debtors.*
*6. 21:32-33 (21:10-36) JESUS: SIGNS OF THE END. “Amen I say unto you that
this :race shall not pass away, till all be accomplished. 33 The heaven and
the earth shall pass away: but my :words shall not pass away.” *See the two
generations in this passage: one for the Kingdom within; one for the Kingdom
fully manifested. Help us Father to rightly divide the Word of Truth! *And
bring us not into temptation!*
*7. 21:37-38 JESUS: ENDS THURSDAY. “And every :day he was teaching in the
temple; and every :night he went out, and lodged in the mount that is called
Olivet. 38 And the whole people came early in the morning unto him in the
temple, to hear him.” *Father, we would be close to Jesus, as were His
disciples each night. His *passion* is about to begin! *But deliver us from
the evil one!*
*NOTE**: 21:14-15 (21:10-36) JESUS PROMISES TIMELY WISDOM! “Settle
**ittherefore in your :hearts, not to meditate beforehand
how to answer: 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your
:adversaries shall not be able to withstand or gainsay.” *Can we trust You
this way, Lord Jesus? Indeed we can! Father, we glorify Your Son by trusting
Him for *Your* words through Him in time of testing!
This is the heart of the last week of Jesus' ministry on earth. God His
Father, as the Master Chess-player - has everything arranged for the death
of His Son, so that Reconciliation through Redemption might be made between
Adam's fallen race and our great Triune God!
Jesus' teaching becomes increasingly pointed against the Scribes and
Pharisees throughout His three year ministry - but reaches its
*climax*during this last week. Though Satan used them to accomplish
the Redemptive
Crucifixion of God's only begotten Son - yet it is *no merit* to them for
their perfidy.
The selected verses above from the 7 passages, clearly show what God wants
us to read and understand. Will we truly comprehend these wonderful lessons
- and the nuggets of truth - and the daily challenge of praying the Lord's
prayer? And really, this is the “disciples' prayer” - the true Lord's Prayer
is John 17. The disciples asked Jesus - “Would You teach *us* to pray, the
way John the Baptist taught *his* disciples to pray?” - So Matthew 6:5-15 is
really what should be centered in its 7-fold content in each prayer we pray
- especially the first 3 requests. And we need to remember - this is
*not*optional. For Jesus said in the imperative mood as a command,
“After
*this* manner *pray*! And then 6 of the 7 requests are *also* in the
imperative mood, making them *double* commands. It is for this reason I put
these 7 requests in *each* of the 366 “Through the Bible in a Year” daily
readings! I follow this myself! and since it pleases God, may it be an equal
blessing for each one of us!
And now our Psalm for the day - *70:5 (70:5) O LORD, DO NOT DELAY! “But I
am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God, You are my help and my deliverer; O
LORD, do not delay!” *Father, we call the things that are not as though they
were! In *You* we see it already done. In the present we have unfulfilment
and tribulation; but in *You* we shall *yet* triumph gloriously! J.A.Watt
