 *FEB 1 - EXODUS 3-4 - MOSES: HIS CALL*

*1. 3:5, 10 (3:1-10) MOSES: CALL & COMMISSION. “And God said, Do not draw
nigh here: put off your shoes from off your feet, for the place where you
stand is holy ground. 10 Come now therefore, and I will send you unto
Pharaoh, that you may bring forth my people the children of Israel out of
Egypt.” (NNT '01). *First You empower us Father through vision and
revelation; then You commission us. *Hallowed be your :name.*

*2. 3:12 (3:11-12) MOSES: FIRST COMPLAINT OVERCOME. “And God said,
Certainly I will be with you; and this shall be the token unto you, that I
have sent you: when you have brought forth the people out of Egypt, you
shall serve God upon this mountain.”* We bless You Father - that You confirm
Your prophetic word with a sign! What an encouragement this is to us! *Your
:kingdom come.*

*3. 3:14 (3:13-22) MOSES: SECOND COMPLAINT OVERCOME. “And God said unto
Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall you say unto the children of
Israel, I AM has sent me unto you.” *Father, you are I AM. You are saying by
this - I continue to be and will be, what I continue to be and will be! What
assurance in our soul comes from this! *Your :will be done, As in heaven, so
on earth.*

*4. 4:16-17 (4:1-17) MOSES: THREE MORE COMPLAINTS OVERCOME. “And Aaron
shall be your spokesman unto the people; and it shall come to pass, that he
shall be to you a mouth, and you shall be to him as God. 17 And you shall
take in you hand this rod, with which you shall do the signs.” *You
understand Father, our reluctance to speak Your prophetic Word apart from
the confirmation of signs. Here You give three signs through Moses' rod! *Our
:daily :bread Give us this day.*

*5. 4:22-23 (4:18-23) MOSES: CALL AND COMMISSION RENEWED. “And you shall
say unto Pharaoh, Thus says Jehovah, Israel is my son, my first-born: 23 and
I have said unto you, Let my son go, that he may serve me; and you have
refused to let him go: behold, I will slay your son, your first-born.” *What
a terrible warning! O may we not refuse You Father, as did Pharaoh! May our
flesh not refuse You. *And forgive us our :debts, as we also have forgiven
our :debtors.*

*6. 4:24 (4:24-26) MOSES: PERSECUTED FOR CIRCUMCISION. “And it came to pass
on the way at the lodging-place, that Jehovah met him, and sought to kill
him.” *Father, only when we as leaders set the example of walking in Your
laws and statutes, are we worthy to lead. Indeed, we jeopardize our lives if
we fail to keep Your pattern. *And bring us not into temptation!*

*7. 4:31 (4:27-31) MOSES AND AARON: A TEAM. “And the people believed: and
when they heard that Jehovah had visited the children of Israel, and that he
had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.” *What
a wonderful result that came from a confirmed prophetic word! *But deliver
us from the evil one.*

*NOTE**: 3:15 (3:13-22) “And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shall you
say unto the children of Israel, **Jehovah, the God of your fathers, the God
of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me unto you: this
is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.” *You are
the everlasting Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We worship You in
awe and reverential fear, in the beauty of holiness.

Today's reading should be an encouragement to many of us. How many of us
have received a commission or mandate from God - and then like Moses started
making excuses, and asking Him to find someone else for His task?

God patiently countered objection after objection by Moses, and finally won
his obedience.

Then consider 4:22-23, where God calls Israel His first-born son! This is a
high calling indeed! And when we read Romans 11, we find that God's choice
of Israel in the OT carries over to our NT times. Paul pleads with the
Gentile church not to enter into “Replacement Theology.” The church has *not
* replaced Israel. She under Christ will be the chief nation upon earth
under the benign rule of Christ!

However, the One New Man - the Church - composed of Jew and Gentile - will
have a role laid out in the NT epistles of great interest. Yet - the 12
apostles of Jesus *will rule* the 12 tribes of Israel in the Millennium
according to the clear words and promise of Jesus.

It is incumbent upon us - necessary - that we *do not slip* into
Replacement Theology in the light of the above. I unconsciously absorbed
this teaching from Old-line historic churches as a boy and a man - and not
until 1990 under Messianic Rabbi Murray Silberling at Beth Simcha, were my
eyes opened to the subtle error of the majority of churches in North America
in this respect.

This day's reading has another teaching of interest. Here God reveals to
Moses His true name, Jehovah. I prefer this above Yahweh, and you can see
why by reading the Introduction to the ASV '01. Here the American
translators set forth their reasoning for this choice, which I side with. I
do not believe that this choice is one of the Moravian essentials - but
rather one of the non-essentials. Yet we all need to extend love to one
another in this field of non-essential choice - like our Moravian friends.

In the Thomas Newberry Reference Bible published by “Kregel” of Michigan,
one can find added justification for the above choice. Newberry back in 1890
printed that the Tetragrammaton of the 4 Hebrew letters - is a formation of
the 3 parts of the verb “to be”. It places “Ye-h*o*VAH” in this formation,
from which Jehovah comes in English transliteration. “Ye” is the future
tense; “h*o*” is the *present* participle; and “VAH” is the past tense. This
lines up with Jesus in Hebrews 12:8 - the same yesterday (VAH); today (h*o*);
and forever (Ye). This also lines up with Revelation 1:8 where Jesus in His
resurrected state tells John *“I am the Alpha and the O, says the Lord :God,
who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”* Here again we find
the three parts of the verb “to be”. The Lord :God is indeed the *“I AM”! *

Psalm 31:14-16, from our Psalm for the day reads *“But I trusted in you, O
Jehovah: I said, You are my God. 15 My times are in your hand: Deliver me
from the hand of my enemies, and from them that persecute me. 16 Make your
face to shine upon your servant: Save me in your lovingkindness (CHEsed).” *Yes
Father, our trust is in You and Your Name! * *JAWatt
