 *JAN 5 - GENESIS 4 - CAIN & ABEL*


 *1. 4:1-2a (4:1-2) CAIN AND ABEL. “And the man knew Eve his wife; and she
conceived, and bore Cain, and said, I have borne a man with the help ofJehovah.
2a And again she bore his brother Abel.” *Birth is a Kingdom principle. But
we as the members of Christ's bride would rather spiritually conceive for
Him, and be a Nazareth and then a Bethlehem. * **Hallowed be Your Name!*


 *2. 4:7 (4:3-7) THEIR OFFERINGS. “If you do well, shall it not be lifted
up? and if you do not do well, sin couches at the door: and unto you shall
be its desire; but do you rule over it.” *There is always a sin offering for
us in Jesus, Father. We may and can receive Him, and come into right
relationship with You! You and Jesus have made an unconditional covenant for
whoever will! *Your :kingdom come.*


 *3. 4.8 DEATH OF ABEL. “And Cain talked to Abel his brother. And it came to
pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his
brother, and killed him.” *O Father, how terrible the consequences of the
fall of Adam and Eve! Their fallen nature has been passed on to Cain and all
his progeny! Thank God this has been reversed through Christ the second
Adam. *Your :will be done, As in heaven, so on earth.*


 *4. 4:11-12 (4:9-15) JUDGMENT. “And now you are cursed from the ground,
which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand;
12 when you till the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto you its
strength; a fugitive and a wanderer shall you be in the earth.” * Violence,
murder, the shedding of blood: these bring a curse on the ground. When we
obey 2 Chronicles 7:14, then you will heal our land. And - *Our :daily bread
Give us this day!*


 *5. 4:17 (4:16-18) CAIN'S DESCENDANTS “And Cain knew his wife; and she
conceived, and bore Enoch: and he built a city, and called the name of the
city, after the name of his son, Enoch.” *Our hearts grieve over the seed of
Cain, and its fruit. Tares and wheat are still in the earth today. Where we
can, may we protect Your godly seed. *And forgive us our :debts, as we also
have forgiven our :debtors.*


 *6. 4:23a, 24 (4:19-24) LAMECH'S PARABLE. “And Lamech said unto his wives:
Adah and Zillah, hear my voice, listen to my words: For I have slain a man
for wounding me - 24 If Cain shall be avenged seven-fold, Truly Lamech
seventy and seven-fold.” *The ungodly seed of Cain deepens in its perversity
and disregard for Your ways, O Father. Satan makes use of this rebellion,
self-will and perversity. *And bring us not into temptation.*


 *7. 4:25 (425-26) SETH AND ENOSH. “And Adam knew his wife again; and she
bore a son, and called his name Seth: For she said, God has appointed me
another seed instead of Abel: for Cain killed him.” *Thank You Father, for
this godly seed. What a contrast to that of Cain! One feeds on the tree of
the knowledge of good and evil: the other feeds on the Tree of Life. We
choose the latter. *But deliver us from the evil one!*


 *NOTE**: *A famous author wrote a novel on this chapter entitled - “East of
Jordan.” From a non-evangelical viewpoint, he tried to explain what God
meant when He gave this word to Cain. I'm not sure that he really hit it.


 Many people try to explain and interpret the Bible. Oswald Chambers
believed that *only* those fully surrendered to Christ and open to the Holy
Spirit could obtain a true understanding of what God intends readers to
receive. Every rubby-dub in taverns knows of Paul's word to Timothy - to
take a little wine for his stomach's sake and often infirmities!


 I believe Chambers has the true key to scriptural understanding, and
without this, it is mere guessage. It is also good like George Muller to
read the Bible through at least once a year. Muller his last 10 years, did
so 4-5 times annually. It's also good to outline it, or have a good outlined

 Good Word Studies give accurate definitions to remove further guessage.
“The Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible” by Spiros Zodhiates is thorough and
sound, and will lead any earnest student to a correct understanding and
appreciation for the Bible.


 The Book of Genesis is the “Seed-Plot” of the Bible. All major doctrines or
teachings have their embryonic beginnings here. Genesis 4 is rich in
insights that follow through in all the rest of Scriptures.


 The first five books written by Moses - called the Torah by Hebrews - and
the Pentateuch by Christians, is a firm foundation for all that follows. Our
New Testament is in the *Old* contained - and the *Old* is by the New
explained. As a matter of fact, for the first decades of the early church,
all they had to preach from were the books of the OT or Old Covenant. Old
Testament history is full of “types and shadows” that shed necessary light
on the NT for our understanding. It is *not* a case of either/or - but
both/and!


 From God's vantage point - *He* sees the NT equal in authority to the the
OT, and in Hebrews 8:6 tells us that He has constituted the NT as Torah! In
this light, Jews who do not use the NT as Torah, are selling themselves
short. In the light of Hebrews 8:6, a Jew *cannot* be “Torah Observant”,
except he walks in the light of the *complete* Bible, all 66 books!


 It is important to note that God made choice, and accepted Abel's sacrifice
over against Cain's. No doubt both knew that because of their father's fall,
and what befell the human race as a result - that only *blood* sacrifice
could atone for sin. The “Finished Sacrifice” of Christ completely confirms
