   *T4701R - DANIEL - OVERVIEW*

“*THE UNIVERSAL SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD”*


 *1. 2:44 (1-4) DANIEL: UNDER NEBUCHADNEZZAR. “And in the days of those
kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be
destroyed nor shall the sovereignty of it be left to another people; but it
shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand
forever.” *This is Your word O Father, through Daniel to Nebuchadnezzar. It
pertains to the kingdoms of man versus the Kingdom of God! There is no
earthly kingdom like Your Kingdom. *Hallowed be your :name.*


 *2. 5:16 (5) DANIEL: UNDER BELSHAZZAR. “But I have heard of you, that you
can give interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if you can read the
writing, and make known to me the interpretation of it, you shall be clothed
with purple, and have a chain of gold about your neck, and shall be the
third ruler in the kingdom.” *Father, raise up from our midst the Daniels to
meet the need in the nick of time! *Your :kingdom come.*


 *3. 6:26 (6) DANIEL UNDER DARIUS. “I make a decree, that in all the
dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for he
is the living God, and steadfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall
not be destroyed; and his dominion shall be even unto the end.” *We marvel
at such a testimony from a mighty heathen king, O Father! In the light of
this, how easy it is for us to believe You for anything! *Your :will be
done, As in heaven, so on earth.*


 *4. 7:2-3 (7) VISION OF THE FOUR BEASTS. “Daniel spoke and said, I saw in
my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of heaven broke forth upon
the great sea. 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one
from another.” *Thank God for Your analysis of things Father, and Your
supreme authority to effect on earth and in heaven whatever is according to
Your own counsel. Forgive us for ever doubting Your *Sovereignty*! *Our
:daily :bread Give us this day.*


 *5. 8:20-21 (8) VISION OF RAM AND GOAT. “The ram which you saw, that had
the two horns, they are the kings of Media and Persia. 21 And the rough
he-goat is the king of Greece: and the great horn that is between his eyes
is the first king.” *We bless You Father, for visions and their
interpretation! How powerful and *Sovereign* You are! *And forgive us our
:debts, As we also have forgiven our :debtors.*


 *6. 9:24 (9) INTERCESSION: THE SEVENTY WEEKS. “Seventy weeks are decreed
upon your people and upon the holy city, to finish transgression, and to
make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring
in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the most holy.” *This is an amazing insight, Father! It shows Your
Omnipotence. It confirms Your ability to do anything You want! *And bring us
not into temptation.*


 *7. 12:4 (10-12) VISIONS UNDER CYRUS. “But you, O Daniel, shut up the
words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and
fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” *Who else is a God like You Father,
telling us of things to come as if they already were? We know of none! *But
deliver us from the evil one.*



 *NOTE**: *Peoples and nations tend to forget the wonders and
*Sovereignty*of our God. See Israel in the 40 years of her Wilderness
sojourneying. See
how history in the Book of Judges, and Israel's 7 lapses, were followed by
God's mercy in raising up 7 judges for deliverance! And, see the church and
her amazing lapses through the past 2 millennia, temporarily corrected by *
Sovereign* Revivals sent by our *Sovereign* God. It will be during the
Millennium following the return of our Lord, that we will see the greatest
acknowledgment to our *Sovereign* God and His glorious Son!


 All of the above is superbly illustrated by the Book of Daniel, and the
working of our *Sovereign* God! Imagine how God raised up and used Daniel
under 3 Empire rulers: Nebuchadnezzar, Darius and Cyrus! The wisdom, dream
interpretation and faithfulness of Daniel places him among the 3 great Prime
Ministers in the Old Testament.


 This book is closely linked with the Book of Revelation. These two books
are apart from the rest of the Bible in allegorical and symbolical form.
Dreams and visions are primarily of this nature. “Dreams: The Divinity Code
- The Keys to Decoding your Dreams and Visions” by Adrian Beale and Adam F.
Thompson of Australia - is an aid in this area. It is also a corrective
concerning previous books on dreams, which were too greatly influenced by
the occultic influence of Carl Jung.


 In the Book of Daniel, God through His servant, gives a sweeping panorama
of human history through 4 great empires of that day, plus a fifth empire
yet to arise, which even now comes into existence.


 Our world gets worse and worse. *Only* upon the return of our Lord Jesus
can we expect a solution to the sin of mankind. And even then, this will not
be fully decided, till the end of the Millennium! - J.A.W.
