*"SPIRITUAL DEJECTION"*

*(From "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers)*

*"We were hoping that is was He who was going to redeem **Israel**. Indeed,
besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened" (Luke
24:21).*

Every fact that the disciples stated was right, but the conclusions they
drew from these facts were wrong. Anything that has even a hint of dejection
spiritually is always wrong. If I am depressed or burdened, I am to blame,
not God or anyone else. Dejection stems from one of two sources – I have
either satisfied a lust or I have not had it satisfied. In either case,
dejection is the result. *Lust* means "I must have it at once." Spiritual
lust causes me to demand an answer from God, instead of seeking God Himself
who gives the answer. What have I been hoping or trusting God would do? Is
today "the third day" and He has still not done what I expected? Am I
therefore justified in being dejected and in blaming God? Whenever we insist
that God should give us an answer to prayer we are off track. The purpose of
prayer is that we get ahold of God, not of the answer. It is impossible to
be well physically and to be dejected, because dejection is a sign of
sickness. This is also true spiritually. Dejection spiritually is wrong, and
we are always to blame for it.



We look for visions from heaven and for earth-shaking events to see God's
power. Even the fact that we are dejected is proof that we do this. Yet we
never realize that all the time God is at work in our everyday events and in
the people around us. If we will only obey, and do the task that He has
placed closest to us, we will see Him. One of the most amazing revelations
of God comes to us when we learn that it is in the everyday things of life
that we realize the magnificent deity of Jesus Christ.





*NOTE ONE:*  ALL experience times of dejection, discouragement and
depression. BUT – no matter WHAT our temperament, God has given to each of
us the capability of arising out of it. See David in Psalm 43:5 – "Why are
you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God:
for I shall YET praise him, *who is* the HEALTH of my countenance, and my
God!" And then in Psalm 103:1-4 – "BLESS the LORD, O my soul, and all that
is within me, *bless* his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget
not all his benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your
diseases; 4 Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with
loving kindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good *
things*; *so that* your youth is renewed like the eagle's."



In SW China in the 1920's, Kunming and Yunnanfu, 40-80 orphans and beggars
ALL came through terrible and horrible conditions – and made it over the
top.



In the 1990's – 1000's of orphans in Mozambique have also made it and are
making it over the top through Rolland & Heidi Baker. Rolland is grandson to
H.A. Baker of the Heavenly Visitation in the 20's above in China. He and his
wife are seeing extraordinary answers to prayer: the sick healed, needs met,
the dead raised, over 5000 churches raised up. These results came out of the
deepest poverty of any nation on earth. They also experienced a devastating
flood beyond imagination. But – did they succumb to these difficulties and
discouragements? No – 1000 times No! Do a Google search for Rolland and
Heidi Baker and their "Iris Ministries" – and you will find that ANY
troubles and problems we may experience – are NOTHING compared with the
above two situations.



Oswald Chambers said there is NO EXCUSE that is able to cause us to succumb
– "IF" – and remember "IF" we take our soul by the scruff of its neck and
tell it – "Soul – BUCK UP! – GOD is on your side, and this is ALWAYS a
majority. If I refuse to give in or give up – By my God I SHALL do
valiantly. I will look back on these difficult times – and see how God
brought me through!



*NOTE TWO:* "Spiritual Equations." I received another response to the recent
mailing of the above subject, and am still laughing over it. Here 'tis!

In the summer of 1944 I met a scientist in a situation in which he was
unable to make a decision. I had been witnessing to him concerning the
tremendous gift of the reality of knowing Him – just as He had ushered me
into that Spring.



He acknowledged that he too wanted such an experience, and had been seeking
God. But he found himself as it were on the top of a Mt. Everest. The hand
of God was above him, and God was inviting him to take a Leap of Faith –
leave the Everest peak – and by faith leap into the hand of God. He feared
to do so – but he also feared that if he did not – he would fall to
destruction. I couldn't persuade him to join me, and I did not meet up with
him again to find out his final decision.



Marie and I have persuaded thousands through our 60 years of marriage and
ministry together to join us in the hand of God. The spiritual
equation is *<Invitation
+ Faith = Safety in the Hand of God>. *

To see both sides of a Spiritual Equation and how they balance – takes
insight, the Word of Knowledge and Revelation. Head knowledge and science
doesn't cut the mustard. Leave the Math, Physics and Quantum Physics – and
take the Leap of Faith.



God has a goal through us. We must SEE it – and then – see the steps He
walks us through to reach this goal of His through us. This applies to each
individual – if we would – or can – see it. This CAN'T be figured out
mentally, but it is parallel – just on a higher level.



I call it – "God's KINDOM Equations." – Jim
