Himself took our :infirmities, and bore the sicknesses.
NOTE: It is important for us to see how Jesus fulfilled Mark 16:9-20 before us. Signsfollowed His ministry and the teaching of the Word! And He made clear that the signswere an integral part of the will of God on His behalf. As a matter of fact, He challenged the Jewish leaders of His day to believe Him for the signsalone, if they could not accept His words concerning Himself!
How much morethen is it important that New Testament ministers should allhave signs following their ministry! No wonder Satan hates and fears the last 12 verses of Mark, especially 16:17-20. Panin's discovery of Bible Numerics in 1890 particularly points out the divine importance of these controversial verses in the thoughts of man!
It is alwaysGod's will for church ministers to walk in the faith of Jesus, so as to have these accompanying signs. They did notcease with the early church. If they fail to be manifested today, it is notGod's fault, but ours - for our little faith. Study again Ephesians 4:11-12 and 1 Corinthians 12:28-31. Note the 2 verbs “gave” and “set” which appear in the “Aorist” tense. Thisis God's way of refuting the arguments of those who teach that these ministries and gifts ceased with the early church. These 2 verbs in this particular tense clearly spell out that it is God's desire, that as long as the church is on earth - just so long He desires us to have these signsfollowing our preaching.
So - Jesus in the Gospels isour example how weshould be ministering today in allbranches of the church. In the book of Acts, the Holy Spirit empowered the apostles and early believers to do likewise. Jesus said in John 14:12, “Amen, Amen, I say unto you, Who believes unto me, the works that I do shall HE doalso; and greater than these shall he do: because I go unto the Father.”Probably the teaching that these signs and ministries ceased with the early church - is a way to excuse the lack of faith of so many. But let us remember - we allmust appear one day before Christ at his BEma - His Judgment Seat - to give account for the deeds done while yet on earth in our bodies! This is why James in 3:1 says, “Be notmany teachers, my brothren, knowing that weshall receive greater condemnation.”I fear for the teachers and writers who refuse to believe the clear teaching of the New Testament. Governor Felix trembledwhen he heard the warnings of the apostle Paul in this regard. James also by the Holy spirit in 2:19 records, “YOU believe that God is one; you do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.” Theyknow of the judgment to come by our oneGod.
Let us also remember that Jesus died for our sins and oursicknesses. By His stripes we werehealed. Then let us also contendfor what He purchased for the church, saw it exemplified by His apostles, and commands all believers for the entire church age - to likewisedemonstrate both this truth and example.
