*OCT 10 - HAGGAI: PROPHET OF THE TEMPLE*

*1. 1:2 (1:1-2, ESV) TEMPLE BUILDING: ENCOURAGED BY HAGGAI. “Thus says the
LORD of hosts: These people say the time has not yet come to rebuild the
house of the LORD.” *We would listen to Your true prophets Father, for
through them we hear Your voice as to Your times and purposes. We can see
those who miss the Issachar revelation (1 Chronicles 12:32). Your Kingdom
comes as we walk in Your true Word. *Hallowed be your :name.*

*2. 1:7-8 (1:3-11) TEMPLE: NEGLECT BRINGS JUDGMENT. “Thus says the LORD of
hosts: Consider your ways. 8 Go up to the hills and bring wood and build
the house, that I may take pleasure in it and that I may be glorified, says
the LORD.” *It is Your time and will to *fully* restore Your church,
Father, the One New Man, composed of Jew and Gentile - and *then* the
nation Israel - as You have promised in Romans 11, and *many
other*portions of Your Word. We need Nehemiahs to rebuild the walls
and gates of
each city church. We need at least 12 local churches in each city to build
the walls in front of them! *Your :kingdom come!*

*3. 1:14 (1:12-15) TEMPLE: PROPHECY BRINGS MOTIVATION. “And the LORD
stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of
Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and
the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and worked on
the house of the LORD of hosts, their God.” *Father, unless You stir our
spirits, we cannot accomplish Your purposes; except You build the house, we
labor in vain. *Your :will be done, As in heaven, so on earth!*

*4. 2:6-7 (2:1-9) TEMPLE: TYPE OF A GREATER HOUSE! “For thus says the LORD
of hosts: Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and
the earth and the sea and the dry land. 7 And I will shake all nations, so
that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house
with glory, says the LORD of hosts.” *Forgive us Father, for walking afar
off like Peter, and missing the significance of Your timing and purposes.
We would cooperate by walking softly with You! *Our :daily :bread Give us
this day.*

*5. 2:13 (2 10-13) TEMPLE PRIESTS: QUERIED ON LAWS OF CLEANNESS. Then
Haggai said, “If someone who is unclean by contact with a dead body touches
any of these, does it become unclean?” The priests answered and said, “It
does become unclean.” *We have walked in our own ways of uncleanness. But *
now* Father, You command all men everywhere to repent, and walk in Your way
of holiness and Kingdom power! *And forgive us our :debts, As we also have
forgiven our :debtors.*

*6. 2:18-19 (2:14-19) TEMPLE WORK: BRINGS BLESSING. “Consider from this
day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day
that the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid, consider: 19 Is the seed
yet in the barn? Indeed, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the
olive tree have yielded nothing. But from this day on I will bless you.” *We
hear this word of Yours applied to us today, Father! Restoration of the new
wineskin of the city church *has begun*. *And bring us not into temptation!*

*7. 2:23 (2:20-23) MESSIAH’S COMING. “On that day, declares the LORD of
hosts, I will take you, O Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel,
declares the LORD, and make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you,
declares the LORD of hosts.” *He who was ‘Sown in Babylon, is now to be
birthed Your apostle of restoration in Jerusalem, Father! All praise to
You, for *You* have done it! *But deliver us from the evil one!*

*NOTE**: 2:8-9 (2:1-9) **PROPHECY FOR THE RESTORED HOUSE! “The silver is
mine, and the gold is mine, declares the LORD of hosts. 9 The latter glory
of this house shall be greater than the former, says the LORD of hosts. And
in this place I will give peace, declares the LORD of hosts.” *Restored
Temple: for Jesus’ first coming! Restored City Churches: for Jesus’ Second
Coming!

*E.M. Bounds Quote from Power through Prayer - *The past has not exhausted
the possibilities nor the demands for doing great things for God. The
church that is dependent on its past history for its miracles of power and
grace is a fallen church. . . . The greatest benefactor this age could have
is the man who will bring the teachers and the church back to prayer.

*Our Psalm for the Day: 100:1-2 (100) HIS STEADFAST LOVE ENDURES
FOREVER. “Make
a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Serve the LORD with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing.” *Father, with joyful hearts we come
into the outer court of Your temple. We acknowledge You as our great
Creator and Redeemer, the Lover of our souls. In Christ Jesus we bless You,
and *hallow your :name!*

*Title*: *“A Psalm of Praise”; *or rather, of thanksgiving. This is the
only Psalm bearing this precise inscription. It is all ablaze with grateful
adoration, and has for this reason been a great favorite with the people of
God ever since it was written.

100:1. *Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all you lands. *Our happy God
should be worshiped by a happy people; a cheerful spirit is in keeping with
His nature, His acts, and the gratitude which we should cherish for His
mercies.

100:2. *Serve the Lord with gladness.* The invitation to worship here
given is not a melancholy one, as though adoration were a funeral
solemnity, but a cheery, gladsome exhortation, as though we were bidden to
a marriage feast.

100:3. *Know you that the Lord He is God. *“Man, know yourself,” is a wise
aphorism, yet to know our God truer wisdom; and it is very questionable
whether a man can know himself until he knows his God. Jehovah is God in
the fullest, most absolute, and most exclusive sense. He is God alone; to
know Him in that character and prove our knowledge by obedience, trust,
submission, zeal, and love is an attainment which only grace can bestow. *It
is He that has made us, and not we ourselves. *To disclaim honor for
ourselves is as necessary a part of true reverence as to ascribe glory to
the Lord. For our part, we find it far more easy to believe that the Lord
made us than that we were developed by a long chain of natural selections
from floating atoms which fashioned themselves.

100:5. *For the Lord is good. *This sums up His character and contains a
mass of reasons for praise. He is good, gracious, kind, bountiful, loving;
yes, God is love. *His mercy is everlasting. *God is not mere justice,
stern and cold; He has bowels of compassion and wills not the sinner’s
death. *And His truth endures to all generations.* It were well if the
truth of divine faithfulness were more fully remembered by some
theologians; it would overturn their belief in the final fall of believers
and teach them a more consolatory system. *(From “The Treasury of David” by
C.S. Spurgeon, abridged by D.O. Fuller)*
