 *OUTLINES - INTRODUCTION - 2009-09-07*

 *A. GUIDE*

“*Through the Bible in a Year” is a Reading Guide prepared in 1963, because
of an encounter with a lady in Cashmere, Washington. At the close of a
message there in mid-Winter, I opened the meeting for comments, questions
and answers. One lady challenged me: “I pray in the Spirit for an hour a
day, and am as dry when I finish as when I started. What do you say about
that?”*

*I asked her, “Do you pray over the Bible as you pray in the Spirit?” Her
reply - “I don't read the Bible!” “That,” I said, “is your problem and
answer to your challenge. Take the book of Psalms, and read a Psalm a day
from January to May, and the book of Proverbs for June. Repeat this from
July to December. Read aloud one or two verses of the Psalm for the day,
and then pray in the Spirit over them. Next pray with your understanding.
You will often find that the latter becomes an interpretation to the first,
and may even be prophetic or a revelation. Then take the rest of the Bible,
and read it through in a year, alternating between an OT and a NT book:
Genesis-Matthew; Exodus-Mark; Leviticus-Luke, etc.”*

*She said, “Would you repeat that again?” So I did. Then she asked, “Could
you write that out for me?” I was about to say, “Lady, do you have any idea
what would be involved in that?” - when I heard the Lord say, “Uh, uh, uh!
This is of Me. Do it for Me on her behalf!”*

*It took me a month to work out the Reading guide that my friend Ed
Densmore has prepared for posting here. Note that the order of the OT books
is the Hebrew order: Law, Prophets and Writings, which Jesus referred to,
and the Jews still use. The NT order is that of God's Bible Numerics
through Ivan Panin: The Gospels and Acts; James through Jude; Paul's
Epistles to 1 & 2 Thessalonians - then Hebrews; next 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus &
Philemon and Revelation.*

*Psalms and Proverbs are taken out of order in the OT “Writings”, and read
through a day at a time twice a year. Countless number of churches have
used this Bible Reading Guide through the years. My wife Marie and I have
found copies throughout Canada and the US, and even in Cairo, Egypt. Marie
has faithfully followed this guide ever since 1963, and has had women of
“Aglow” following it with her throughout the land.*

*We invite you to join us in this easy and challenging guide. The
“Interlinear” Greek NT on this Website and the Greek Word Studies (UGWS)
will give added light for those interested in their use.*

*B. OVERVIEW: In 1984 on the way to Cranbrook BC, I sensed the Spirit
leading me to prepare the 66 books of the Bible in a 52 week “OVERVIEW”.
Genesis, Exodus, Luke, John, Acts, Isaiah, Jeremiah - 7 books - are given 2
weeks each.*

 *1 & 2 Peter; 1, 2, 3 John & Jude; Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah;
Philippians, Colossians; Jonah, Micah, Nahum Habakkuk; 1 & 2 Thessalonians;
Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi; Song of Solomon, Ruth; Lamentations,
Ecclesiastes, Esther; 1 & 2 Timothy; Ezra, Nehemiah; Titus, Philemon - are
linked together in one week's reading.*

*The order here parallels that of the “Through the Bible in a Year”
Reading Guide. Each week is arranged under 7 Scripture verses from the
reading of the week. The NT readings closely parallel those of the Reading
Guide. They are arranged in a prayer format, with the 7 sections of the
Lord's Prayer attached.*

*C. BREAKDOWN. I have taken each of the 7 sections of the “Overviews”, and
in turn broken them down into 7 sections under 7 verses selected from the
Reading of that day. They also are arranged in a prayer format linked with
the Lord's Prayer. I put these 364 “breakdown” readings in MS form in
1987-88. I have only prepared a few for posting as yet, and will not
attempt to complete and post these “breakdown” readings until God's Bible
Numeric Interlinear Greek NT is completed and posted. As of today (Labor
Day,*

*2009), I have 84 of the 260 NT chapters completed for posting. I should
have, God willing, 190 completed by next year. This will leave the 4
Gospels to do, which in space, equals the 190 chapters. I do need your
prayer support.*

*My grandson Keelan Long, has revamped and updated this Website, and is
looking into a simplified method to allow me to post and correct these
articles. This also is a heavy prayer project, but with the prayers of
those of you who are interested, we are sure God will undertake.
