 * FEB 18 - MARK 10:32-13-37 - TEACHING PRECEDING BETRAYAL OF JESUS*


 *1. 10:45 (10:32-45) JESUS: DIFFICULTY IN BEING UNDERSTOOD. “For the Son of
:man also came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his
:life a ransom for many” (NNT). **A Servant Spirit*: This is a key mark of
Your Kingdom Father, and a high characteristic of Your Son. If we are yoked
with Jesus, we will be dead to self-will, and will manifest Him! *Hallowed
be your :name!*


 *2. 10:52 (10:46-52) JESUS: FAITH - THE KEY TO HEALING. And :Jesus said to
him, “Go; your :faith has made you whole.” And straightway he received
hissight, and followed him in the way.
*What is Your will for us, Father? That we believe in and obey Your Son!
This is Your will, that we be yoked to Jesus! *Your :kingdom come.*


 *3. 11:9-10 (11:1-11) JESUS: TRIUMPHAL ENTRY. And who went before and who
followed cried, “Hosanna; Blessed who comes in the Lord's name. 10 Blessed
the coming kingdom of our :father David: Hosanna in the highest.” *What
magnificent praise, Father; and it all redounds to you! *Your :will be done,
As in heaven, so on earth!*


 *4. 11:22-23 (11:12-26) JESUS: LESSONS FROM THE FIG TREE. And :Jesus
answered and said to them, “Have God's faith. 23 Amen I say unto you, [that]
Whoever shall say to this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea; and
shall not doubt in his :heart, but shall believe that what he says comes to
pass, he shall have it.” *Ah, here it is! It is *Your faith* we operate in
Father, not our own! O forgive us for being so blind, for failing to rest in
You, and for seeking to bring in Your Kingdom by works of the flesh! *Our
:daily :bread, Give us this day!*


 *5. 12:26-27 (11:27-12:27) JESUS: HIS AUTHORITY QUESTIONED. “But about the
dead, that they are raised; have you not read in the book of Moses, in the
passage about the Bush, how :God spoke to him, saying, I am the God of
Abraham, and God of Isaac, and God of Jacob? 27 He is not God of the dead,
but of the living: you greatly err. *Father, may we not fall into the trap
of testing You! *And forgive us our :debts, As we also have forgiven our
:debtors!*


 *6. 12:29-30 (12:28-44) JESUS: EXPOSES SCRIBES. “:Jesus answered, The first
is, Hear, Israel; The Lord our :God, the Lord is one: 30 and you shall love
the Lord your :God from all your heart, and from all your :soul, and from
all your :mind, and from all your :strength. 30 A second is this, You shall
love your :neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than
these.” **These* are the keys to entering the Kingdom of God. Father, we
embrace Jesus' teaching! *And bring us not into temptation!*


 *7. 13:30-31 (13:1-37) JESUS: FORETELLS A DOUBLE DESTRUCTION. “Amen I say
unto you, that, this :race shall in no wise pass away until all these
thingsbe accomplished.
31 :Heaven and :earth shall pass away: but my :words shall not pass
away.” *These
are sober words; they concern things of the future, and are not always easy
to understand. *But deliver us from the evil one!*


 *NOTE**: 11:24-25 (11:12-26) JESUS: CONDITIONS FOR ANSWERED PRAYER.
“Therefore I say unto you, All **things whatever you pray and ask for,
believe that you received them, and you shall have them. 25 And whenever you
stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any one; that your
:Father also who is in the heavens may forgive you your :trespasses.” *Answers
to prayer apart from a *forgiving heart* are impossible!


 Teachings such as above are *not* truly and spiritually understood by the
wise and prudent who are *not* born from above. It is *only* by those
indwelt and possessed of the Holy Spirit who have true understanding
concerning the Words of Jesus and God. Ph D's and learning do not give such
understanding.


 George Whitefield in his day had education as an Episcopal priest. But it
wasn't because of this that he had true understanding. Until once he was
born by the Spirit - which was a time of deep trial for him - he immediately
entered into a relationship with God that was unique. Throughout the rest of
his life he was up at 4:00 AM, and on his knees before the Word of God. He
usually read portions of the Scripture in both English and Greek. He also
carefully read through the Commentary on the Bible by Matthew Henry. Then
word by word and phrase by phrase he meditated aloud upon what he had read
until it became living and crystal clear. Such an understanding of the Word
came to him through this discipline, that in the next 30 years he preached
some 30,000 sermons - that gripped his hearers by thousands and tens of
thousands. This included the poor, the highly educated and children on both
sides of the Atlantic. It was no doubt because of his unusual devotional
time that he was enabled to preach often 3 times a day, with little
preparation apart from these early morning devotional times. Then at 5:00 AM
he often preached his first sermon of the day.


 At the time of his death in his early 50's - Charles Wesley wrote a poetic
eulogy on his behalf of over 500 lines.


 Few people have truly and fully understood the effect of this man on the
Kingdom of God - but God knew! His biography by Arnold A. Dallimore “George
Whitefield: God's Anointed Servant in the Great Revival of the Eighteenth
Century” more than adequately gives credit where credit is due - but
*all*to the glory of God!


 In conclusion, let us consider our Psalm for the day - 48:9-10
(48:1-14) *ZION:
THE CITY OF OUR GOD. “We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the
midst of your temple. 10 As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the
ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness” (ESV). *Zion
is a place of *dryness*; a place of *faith*, a place of *unity*, a place of
*worship*, a place of *holiness*, a place of *Your Presence*, Father. It is
a place of *maturity* for the 100-fold. Here we minister to You! J.A.Watt
