*FEB 7-13 - EXODUS 19-40 - OVERVIEW - LAW OF THE COVENANT*
*FEB 7. 19:8 (19-20) THE MORAL LAW: ITS COMMANDMENTS. “And all the people
answered together, and said, All that Jehovah has spoken we will do. And
Moses reported the words of the people unto Jehovah.” *O that Israel had had
a heart to have continued in this response! *Hallowed be your :Name!*
*FEB 8. 23:32-33 (21-23) THE SOCIAL LIFE: ITS JUDGMENTS. “You shall make no
covenant with them, nor with their gods. 33 They shall not live in your
land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, it
will surely be a snare unto you.” *Here You spell out Your will, O Father.
As New Covenant believers - we would walk in Your will. *Your :kingdom come.
*
*FEB 9. 24:12 (24) THE RELIGIOUS LIFE: ITS ORDINANCES. “And Jehovah said
unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give you
the tables of stone, and the law and the commandment, which I have written,
that you may teach them.” *These Your words - are spiritual bread, O Father!
*Your :will be done, As in heaven, so on earth.*
*FEB 10. 28:29 (25-31) THE TABERNACLE: ITS PLAN. “And Aaron shall carry the
names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his
heart, when he goes in unto the holy place, for a memorial before Jehovah
continually.” *Yes Father, and we carry before You as a memorial the names
of our clans and households, that you may forgive their sins and bring
salvation. *Our :daily :bread give us this day.*
*FEB 11. 34:10 (32-34) THE TABERNACLE: ITS DELAY. “And he said, Behold, I
make a covenant: before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not
been done in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among
which you are shall see the work of Jehovah; for it is a terrible thing that
I do with you.” *Yes Father, and You will put our Lord Jesus upon us as our
armor at that time! *And forgive us our :debts, as we also have forgiven our
:debtors.*
*FEB 12. 39:6-7 (35:1-39:31) THE TABERNACLE: ITS COMPLETION. “And they
worked the onyx stones, enclosed in settings of gold, graven with the
engravings of a signet, according to the names of the children of
Israel. 7And he put them on the shoulder-pieces of the ephod, to be
stones of
memorial for the children of Israel; as Jehovah commanded Moses.” *In the
strength of Jesus' shoulders, Father, You carry our names. He is now High
Priest after the order of Melchizedek. *And bring us not into temptation!*
*FEB 13. 40:14-15 (39:32-40:38) THE TABERNACLE: ITS CONFIRMATION. “And you
shall bring his sons, and put coats upon them; 15 and you shall anoint them,
as you did anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the
priest's office; and their anointing shall be to them for an everlasting
priesthood throughout their generations.” *Your Kingdom is an
*everlasting*Kingdom, O Father!
*But deliver us from the evil one!*
*NOTE**: Psalm 43:5 - “My soul, why are you so downcast? Why are you
groaning inside me? Hope in God, since I will praise him again for being my
Savior and God.” *You O Father, will not test us forever. Our troubles and
testings will pass away as a sleep in the night, and we will awake with
renewed strength in the morning!
There are many types and shadows in the OT - which God in His wisdom
designed as parables as it were for the NT church, the One New Man composed
of Jews and Gentiles. Believers at the beginning of the church age were
almost entirely Jews. Some Gentiles at that time became Jews through
conversion, of whom Luke was probably one. By 320 AD under Emperor
Constantine, the church was now predominantly Gentile - and the latter were
now persecuting the Jewish believers, completely ignoring the stern warnings
of the Holy Spirit through Paul in Romans 11.
Early Christian teachers made excellent use of the types and shadows of the
OT, for the NT was not completed until the end of the first century.
And *how rich* is the source of teaching that lies before us today. So many
books have been written on this portion of Scripture. One of the latest is
“The Tabernacle Tour - Face to Face with God” - A Handbook on Heart
Transformation by Jim Ray - *<www.thetabernacletour.com> *
J. Sidlow Baxter wrote a text called “Explore the Book.” The Titles in the
Tabernacle Section come from his book. It is in the light of “Protocol” that
we give credit where credit is due. “Warfare by Honor” by Suuqiina and
Quamaniq - set a wonderful example for such carefulness.
It is interesting to note how God confirms His most important leadings.
When Moses completed the assignment of the Tabernacle - God signally came
upon it in His Shekinah Glory, expressing His approval upon every detail.
When Solomon completed the Temple following 7 ½ years of construction - the
Glory of God came down upon that temple, so that 120 priests were unable to
stand to minister.
When Jesus built His Church exactly according to His Father's commandment
and plan - on the Day of Pentecost God signally expressed His approval on
all His Son had performed!
And when Elijah rebuilt the broken down altar of Jehovah on Mount Carmel,
using the 12 stones representing the 12 tribes of Israel - the fire of God
fell upon his sacrifice, not only consuming it, but even the altar, stones
and surrounding water. The prophets of Baal were completely defeated before
the children of Israel!
So - it is always good for us to remember God's unusual approval upon
Tabernacle, Temple and Church! J.A.Watt
