21:1 (21:1-9, ESV) DAVID: DISCOVERS BROKEN COVENANT CAUSING FAMINE.
<font size="3">Now there was famine in the days of David for three
years, year after year. And David sought the face of the LORD. And
the LORD said, “There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house,
because he put the Gibeonites to death.” </font></b><span style="font-weight:normal">Saul
broke the Covenant Joshua made with the Gibeonites more than 400
years previous. And this act grieved </span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">You</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">,
Father! Show us th</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">at</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">

21:10 (21:10-11) DAVID: HEARD WHAT RIZPAH DID. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">“Then
Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for herself
on the rock, from the beginning of harvest until rain fell upon them
from the heavens. And she did not allow the birds of the air to come
upon them by day, or the beasts of the field by night.” </span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">David
took note of this righteous act. </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">You</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
Lord Jesus, David’s greater Son, are aware of all things in Your
Kingdom! Father, Your will be done in us as it was in David here.

21:14 (21:12-14) DAVID: PROPERLY BURIES SAUL AND JONATHAN. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">“David
went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of his son Jonathan
from the men of Jabesh-gilead, who had stolen them from the public
square of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, on the
day the Philistines killed Saul on Gilboa.” </span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">Three
things David did to rectify the wrongs of Saul before You healed the
land, Father. May we determine too to walk righteously in Kingdom
Covenant principles. </span></span><b><i><span style="text-decoration:none">Your
:will be done, As in heaven, so on earth.</span></i></b></font></font></p>

21:17 (21:15-22) DAVID: BARELY DEFEATS THE PHILISTINE GIANTS. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">“</span></font><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">But
Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid and attacked the
Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, ‘You
shall no longer go out with us to battle, lest you quench the lamp of
Israel.’” </span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">Here
is wise counsel. As Jonathan was rescued from Saul by the people, so
David is rescued from his own foolhardiness by the people. O forgive
us Father, that we often act apart from counsel and common sense!

:bread Give us this day.</span></i></b></font></font></p>

22:29-30 (22) DAVID’S LAST SONG: NINE THINGS OF GOD. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">“For
you are my lamp, O LORD, and my God lightens my darkness. </span></font><font style="font-size:8pt" size="1"><span style="text-decoration:none">30
</span></font><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">For by
you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.”
</span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">This
is a passage of light after some dark tunnels. Thank You Father, that
You temper chastisement for Your sons with </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">mercy</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">.
Yes, You do not allow us to be tempted above what we are able to
bear! </span></span><b><i><span style="text-decoration:none">And
forgive us our :debts, As we also have forgiven our :debtors.</span></i></b></font></font></p>

Spirit of the LORD speaks by me; his word is on my tongue. </span></font><font style="font-size:8pt" size="1"><span style="text-decoration:none">3
</span></font><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">The
God of Israel has spoken; the Rock of Israel said to me: When on</span></font><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">e</span></font><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">
rules justly over men, ruling in the fear of God, </span></font><font style="font-size:8pt" size="1"><span style="text-decoration:none">4
</span></font><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">he
dawns on them like the morning light, like the sun shining forth on
a cloudless morning, like rain that makes grass to sprout from the
earth.” </span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">It
is by Your Covenant Father, that You caused David to triumph. Yes, an
understanding of this is the basis of Kingdom Victory, and </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">our</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
triumph too! </span></span><b><i><span style="text-decoration:none">And
bring us not into temptation!</span></i></b></font></font></p>

23:16 (23:8-39) DAVID’S MIGHTY MEN. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">“</span></font><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">Then
the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines and
drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and
carried and brought it to David. But he would not drink of it. He
poured it out to the LORD.” </span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">How
You blessed David Father, by giving him such men! How You blessed
Your Son Jesus by the first 12 apostles, and by all men and women
since! </span></span><b><i><span style="text-decoration:none">But
deliver us from the evil </span></i><span style="text-decoration:none">one!</span></b></font></font></p>

21:3 (21:1-9) BROKEN COVEN</b></span><b><span style="text-decoration:none">AN</span><span style="text-decoration:none">T:
REQUIRES RIGHTEOUS RESTITUTION. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">And
David said to the Gibeonites, “What shall I do for you? And how
shall I make atonement, that you may bless the heritage of the LORD?”
</span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">See
how David understood the importance of Covenant from the perspective
of God! May we too see the importance of keeping our word in the
sight of our God! Psalm 15:4 - “Who swears to his own hurt and does
not change” - is one who shall sojourn in God’s tent - and dwell
in His holy hill!”</span></span></font></font></p>

this is one of the most important attribute</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">s</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
in the life of David, marking him out as a spiritual man: namely,
understanding - and </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">walking
in</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
Covenant!</span></span></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" align="LEFT">

<font face="Palatino Linotype, serif"><font style="font-size:11pt"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">It
used to be in America - that a man was </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">as
good as</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
his word! Today all too often, our word of promise means very little.
It is like a c</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">lou</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">d
promising rain - but fails to deliver. </span></span></font></font>
</p>
<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" align="LEFT">

- it used to be - and occasionally still is - that a man’s word
involving millions of dollars was sealed </span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">by
</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">a
handshake - until it could be written up legally.</span></span></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" align="LEFT">

<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal" align="LEFT">
<font face="Palatino Linotype, serif"><font style="font-size:11pt"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">To
note carefully how David discovered why God had sent famine to his
land for 3 years - and how he courteously sought out the Gibeonites
to settle with them how they could bless the heritage of the LORD -
</span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">this</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
deserves emulation on the part of each one of us - especially should
we desire to be counted by God as a spiritual person.</span></span></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" align="LEFT">

<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal" align="LEFT">
<font face="Palatino Linotype, serif"><font style="font-size:11pt"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">It
is better </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">not</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
to promise - than to promise and fail to keep it. Our words should
</span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">not</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
require an oath to satisfy the other party that we will follow
thought. Jesus said a Yes should always </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">mean</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
Yes! and our No, No!</span></span></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" align="LEFT">

<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal" align="LEFT">
<font face="Palatino Linotype, serif"><font style="font-size:11pt"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">These
are Kingdom principles that David sought to keep throughout his life,
and which his greater Son, Jesus - </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">always</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
kept before His Father.</span></span></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" align="LEFT">

<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal" align="LEFT">
<font face="Palatino Linotype, serif"><font style="font-size:11pt"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">I
was a Boy Scout in my teen years. If we made a promise to a fellow
scout - and he doubted whether we would keep that promise or not - he
would then challenge with - “On your Scout’s honor?” If we
replied in the affirmative - then he would believe us. But - a boy
scout should keep his word without swearing on his scout’s honor.
And </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">we</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
as Kingdom citizens like David, should keep our simple promise - a
good sign of a spiritual man.</span></span></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" align="LEFT">

mother ingrained this into my brother and me. Then when becoming a
believer at 20 years of age, the Holy Spirit deepened this - as </span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">I</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
meditated over the word of God. Joshua 1:8 became one of a number of
life texts for me.</span></span></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" align="LEFT">

<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal" align="LEFT">
<font face="Palatino Linotype, serif"><font style="font-size:11pt"><b><span style="text-decoration:none">Our
Proverbs chapter for the day: 3:5-6 (3) TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL
YOUR HEART. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">“Trust
in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own
understanding. </span></font><font style="font-size:8pt" size="1"><span style="text-decoration:none">6
</span></font><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">In all
your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
</span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">By
the Holy Spirit, David’s son Solomon wrote these wise words for his
son. It is a pity that Solomon forsook </span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">h</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">is
own counsel, </span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">and
his son Rehoboam also forsook his father’s counsel and failed to
make a good mark in Your Kingdom, Father. But still - </span></span><b><i><span style="text-decoration:none">Hallowed
be your :name!</span></i></b></font></font></p>
