6:14-15 (6, ESV) DAVID: BRINGS ARK TO JERUSALEM. <font size="3">“And
David danced before the LORD with all his might. And David was
wearing a linen ephod. </font><font style="font-size:8pt" size="1">15
</font><font size="3">So David and all the house of Israel brought up
the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the horn.”
</font></b><span style="font-weight:normal">The acme and glory of
David’s reign all culminated at this time: from this time onwards
it was </span><span style="font-weight:normal">somewhat </span><span style="font-weight:normal">down
hill. Righteousness exalts a nation. David’s vision for Your Ark
Father, implemented Your Kingdom. </span><b><i>Hallowed be your
:name!</i></b></font></font></p>

7:2-3 (7:1-3) DAVID: HIS DESIRE CONCERNING THE TEMPLE. <font size="3">The
king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of
cedar, but the ark of God dwells in a tent.” </font><font style="font-size:8pt" size="1">3
</font><font size="3">And Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that
is in your heart, for the LORD is with you.” </font></b><span style="font-weight:normal">Not
just for Your Ark Father, but also Your House was on the mind and
heart of David. Nathan recognized the natural rightness of this
desire. </span><b><i>Your :kingdom come!</i></b></font></font></p>

7:4-5 (7:4-29) DAVID: HIS TEMPLE TEMPERED BY GOD. <font size="3">But
that same night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, </font><font style="font-size:8pt" size="1">5
</font><font size="3">“Go, and tell my servant David, ‘Thus says
the LORD: Would you build me a house to dwell in?’” </font></b><span style="font-weight:normal">A
man of peace must build Your house Father, not a man of war. Yet, You
honored David’s desire, by building </span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">him</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
an eternal house! </span></span><b><i><span style="text-decoration:none">Your
:will be done, As in heaven, so on earth.</span></i></b></font></font></p>

8:6 (8:1-14) DAVID: </span><span style="text-decoration:none">ESTABLISHMENT
THROUGH MILITARY VICTORIES. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">“Then
David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Syrians became
servants to David and brought tribute. And the LORD gave victory to
David wherever he went.” </span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">David
put Your Kingdom and will </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">first</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">,
Father: and You established his kingdom mightily according to Your
purposes for Israel. O forgive us that we so often fail to perceive
as David did that all of this is of </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">You</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
- for Your purposes and Glory! </span></span><b><i><span style="text-decoration:none">Our
:daily :bread Give us this day.</span></i></b></font></font></p>

<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal" align="LEFT">

8:15 (8:15-18) DAVID: CHARACTER OF HIS REIGN AND ORGANIZATION. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">“So
David reigned over all Israel. And David administered justice and
equity to all his people.” </span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">David
did all of this through good appointments over his entire kingdom.
You granted him grace and wisdom, Father; and You strengthened him
that he seldom fell into temptation. </span></span><b><i><span style="text-decoration:none">And
forgive us our :debts, As we also have forgiven our :debtors.</span></i></b></font></font></p>

9:7 (9) DAVID: SHOWS MERCY TO HOUSE OF SAUL. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">And
David said to him (Mephibosheth), “Do not fear, for I will show
kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to
you all the land of Saul your father, and you shall eat at my table
always.” </span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">And
all of this was because of the Covenant between David and Jonathan!
How important is </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">covenant</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
in Your eyes, and in the eyes of Your mature servants, Father! </span></span><b><i><span style="text-decoration:none">And
bring us not into temptation.</span></i></b></font></font></p>

10:12 (10) DAVID: DEFEATS AMMONITE-SYRIAN FORCES. </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">“Be
of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people, and for the
cities of our God, and may the LORD do what seems good to him.”
</span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">Though
Joab was not a man with high ethics; yet in his own way he rolled his
burdens upon You in a wise manner, O Great Jehovah Father! We too
would honor You by remembering th</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">at</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
</span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">Yours</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory for ever! Amen! </span></span><b><i><span style="text-decoration:none">But
deliver us from the evil </span></i><span style="text-decoration:none">one!</span></b></font></font></p>

6:3 (6) DAVID: </b></span><b><span style="text-decoration:none">MISSES
GOD’S ORDER! </span><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration:none">“And
they carried the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of the
house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. And Uzzah and Ahio, the
sons of Abinadab, were driving the new cart.” </span></font></b><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">Here
David followed the example of the Philistines rather than that of
Your Word, Father! Your judgment led him to correction!</span></span></font></font></p>

<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal" align="LEFT">
<font face="Palatino Linotype, serif"><font style="font-size:11pt"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">It
is God’s will and purpose that you and I read His Word - not for
information primarily - but for insights and examples that we can put
into action! Again - it is hearing and </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">doing</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
God’s Word that catches God’s attention. This is the word He gave
to Joshua (1:8)!</span></span></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" align="LEFT">

<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal" align="LEFT">
<font face="Palatino Linotype, serif"><font style="font-size:11pt"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">David
was a man after God’s own heart - because the general tenor or his
life was hearing and </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">doing</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
the Word of the Lord. And when in his humanity he fell short of this
standard, then when confronted with his sin and lapse - he
</span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">immediately</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
repented, confessed his sin, and returned to the path of following
the Lord. If we can set ourselves by God’s grace to follow David
this way - the</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">n</span></span><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
</span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">we too</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
will be marked out as those who are </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">after
God’s own heart</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">!
Does this mean perfection down here? Obviously not. We are not to
fall into that trap as some have done. Perfection and entire
sanctification takes place at Christ’s return and </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">our
resurrection</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">!</span></span></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-top:0.01in;margin-bottom:0in;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" align="LEFT">

<font face="Palatino Linotype, serif"><font style="font-size:11pt"><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">Then
look at </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">Covenant</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
and its importance in the eyes of David. How seriously he and
Jonathan made and confirmed covenant with one another and their
respective houses! The Bible is Old Covenant and New Covenant above
that of Old Testament and New Testament. God is a </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">God
of Covenant</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">,
and we His people should be set forth as </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">Covenant
people</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">!
What David did for Mephibosheth - Jonathan's son and Saul’s
grandson - is clear indication how </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">Covenant</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
is to operate. The Sermon on the Mount is a “Covenant” Sermon.
For us to </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">identify</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
ourselves with Jesus in His death by receiving Romans 6 - and then in
Resurrection through Romans 8 - is to lay the basis of Paul’s
testimony in Galatians 2:20! </span></span><u><span style="font-weight:normal">Then</span></u><span style="text-decoration:none"><span style="font-weight:normal">
Christ in us can live out His life through us - and thus fulfill the
Covenant conditions of the Sermon on the Mount! Jim Watt</span></span></font></font></p>

(word) of John 1:1. As we walk in discipleship to Jesus, He baptizes
