PRAYER – AND FASTING –</b></font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">This
section of the Sermon on the Mount can be seen exemplified in the
life of Jesus in a most amazing manner. Jesus’ 12 disciples watched
Him for 3 years, and were so impressed with His example, that they
requested, “LORD – teach us to pray like John the Baptist taught
his disciples to pray.” The prayer contained here most certainly
contained the 7 areas in which Jesus the Son of :Man prayed to His
heavenly Father. </font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>This</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">
should motivate us not just daily; but like Daniel – 3 times a day
-- to seek our heavenly Father’s face in Jesus’ Name! Will He
hear and answer? Most certainly, as we faithfully let the Holy Spirit
guide us into obeying all the commands of Jesus! </font>
</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">It
is important to note here that Jesus introduces “The Disciples&#39;
Prayer” with “double imperatives”! The Lord&#39;s Prayer is really
John 17 by Jesus! What is normally called the Lord&#39;s Prayer is really
“The Disciples&#39; Prayer”.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">Jesus
said - After this manner </font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>pray</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">
ye (Imperative mood). Then </span></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>each</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">
of the requests which follow are also in the imperative mood except
one! And lead us not into </span></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>testing</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">
- is in the subjunctive mood. The significance of this is - Father,
if you can bring me into the image of Jesus without going through
what “Job” did, please do! But if the only way you can bring me
as a son into glory is through testing - then in the process, </span></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>let
not</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">
Satan get an eventual advantage over me, but deliver me as you did
Job! And may I too forgive my persecuting enemies as did Job, Jesus,
and Stephen!</span></font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in; text-decoration: none;">

<font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">This is quite a different way of
looking at this prayer Jesus gave to His disciples!</font></p>

<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">Note
also that the 5</span></font>^{<font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">th</span></font>}<font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">
request to the Father, “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our
debtors”, is the </span></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>only
one</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">
repeated. Jesus emphasizes the importance of being forgiven - is on
</span></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>our part</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">
forgiving our enemies - else - our heavenly Father will </span></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>not</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">
forgive us!</span></font></p>

and note these insights. </font>

what of </font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>giving</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span style="text-decoration: none;">?</span></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">
– God so loved us in the world that He gave His only begotten Son
on our behalf. And Jesus in His Deity so loved us that He humbled
Himself to become a man like us so He could redeem us by His blood
and reconcile us back to God. </font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>Giving</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">?
Never has the world seen such an example of Giving. Mel Gibson’s
“The Passion of the Christ” helped us understand this to some
extent. </font>
</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">And
what of the Holy Spirit? Like the Father and the Son, He so loved us
-- that on the basis of Jesus’ sacrifice He gave Himself to come to
live in us at Pentecost, so that through Him Jesus could live out His
Victorious and Overcoming Life </font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><u>through
us</u></font><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">!</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">Yes
– this is the privilege of the Disciple!</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">And
what of Fasting? Men of prayer say – “When prayer alone won’t
get one through – add fasting to prayer, and see the amazing
results.”</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">When
I get into the Sermon on the Mount – I always look forward to this
3-fold section. It is so rewarding. It so pleases the Father. It so
honors the Son.</font></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>

<p style="margin-top: 0.01in; margin-bottom: 0in;"><font style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2">And
again – the texts above are from the discovery of Ivan Panin
concerning God’s Numeric signature, aligning Himself infallibly
with the Word – both Hebrew and Greek.</font></p>
