is a favorite of many, and many have memorized it. Notice that there
are 4 conditions, and then 3 promises. Many teachings in the Old
Testament are not just types and shadows. They are moral and ethical
teachings for </span></span></span><u><span style="font-style: normal;"><span style="">all</span></span></u><span style="font-style: normal;"><span style="text-decoration: none;"><span style="">
time. We need to </span></span></span><u><span style="font-style: normal;"><span style="">rightly</span></span></u><span style="font-style: normal;"><span style="text-decoration: none;"><span style="">
divide the Word of Truth. And we need to remember - for the first few
decades of the early church, all they had were the books of the Old
Covenant: the Torah; the Prophets and the Writings. Until the Canon
of the New Testament was added to the Old and constituted as Torah
(Hebrews 8:6) - the traditions of the spoken word were the key to
interpret and apply the Old Covenant. Now the 27 books of the New
Testament are the key to understand, interpret and apply the Old
Testament.</span></span></span></font></p>

<font size="3">After Solomon “blew it” and God in judgment gave 10
of his tribes to Jeroboam, and left but Judah and Benjamin to
Solomon's son Rehoboam - then idolatry and rebellion on a tremendous
scale entered the Northern Kingdom of Israel. Soon this spread to
Judah, especially under King Manasseh. This caused God to let Judah
go into captivity - some 133 years after Israel.</font></p>

<font size="3">But under Cyrus, in answer to prophecy and the
extraordinary intercession of Daniel, God returned 50,000 Jews (and
numbers of Israel's 10 tribes) to their Promised Land, rebuilt their
Temple under Ezra, and the Wall of Jerusalem under Nehemiah. This set
the nation up to receive Jesus the Messiah, with Redemption and
Reconciliation as His contribution as Son of Man, the second Adam.
The rest is recounted in detail in the New Testament. - J.A.W.</font></p>
