Since Jim has been very ill the past year, he has been unable to send out his weekly mailings, plus other messages he felt were important enough to be shared.Unfortunately, I am not a computer person, though I thoroughly enjoyed all the E-Mails and articles Jim printed for me. Now God has provided my 23-year-old grandson, Paul, Peter's oldest son, to do Computer mailings, etc. for me, and live with me. God, who knows the end, from the beginning, blessed us with Paul living with us the past month and helping with Jim. However, Keelan is still the webmaster. He is still grandpa's right hand for website. On May 5, 2013, Jim had his first bladder cancer surgery. About a month later, he suffered a minor stroke, that impaired his memory and speech. However, he managed to keep going for awhile. But after his second surgery, Sept. 25th, 2013, he was in much pain, and unable to do much, let alone his computer work. His ability to read was gone, and he didn't talk much. He was fully bedridden at the first of the year. We were so blessed that hospice came to help. He had a most wonderful Christian man as his nurse's aid coming in three days a week for an hour, to do his grooming and bless him. We are so grateful for James. Hospice provides a "Respite" Nursing Home time for 5 days, to give caregivers a rest, once a month. Last Monday, July 14th, an Ambulance picked Jim up at our home to go to Orchard Park Nursing home in Tacoma for the five day stay. He was supposed to come home Friday. Because, at almost 91 years of age I didn't have the strength to continue looking after him, we decided to leave him there another week. On Friday afternoon, July 18th, I spent about 3 hours with him. Before leaving, I prayed for him, and told him God would provide for all his needs, all he had to do was call - Jer. 33:3 - and Heb. 13:5-6 -- "I will never leave you, nor forsake you, so boldly say, the Lord is my helper, so I will not fear..." Then, the Lord gave me another verse for him - 2 Tim. 4:6-7 - "I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith - Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness...". I never realized these would be my last words to my husband. As I left him, I was wondering if I was able to continue caring for him at home, little realizing he had a much better home to go to! The next morning, Sat. July 19th at 11:30am, I received a call from the Nursing Home; he was not responding very well. Do you want to come and see him? Of course; but before we left, at 11:45am, another call from the Nursing home - "He had left us". So, praise God, we know where he is. He is rejoicing in Heaven with Jesus, and the rest of our loved ones whom have already moved on. Later that afternoon, I was able to see him, and again spend some time with him, praying, praising God, and thanking him for the 65 years we had together. Though he had left us earlier, his body was still peacefully waiting for the next part of his journey. Truly there is rejoicing in heaven over Jim's admission. "Well done thou good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you enter into the joy of the Lord," Matt. 25 21. Jim celebrated his earthly birthday, July 5th as he turned 91 years of age. Then 14 days later he celebrated his real birthday; being with Jesus in his Father's mansion; John 14: 1-2. There will be a Memorial Service, Sat. Aug. 9th, at 1:00pm at Christ Church, 941 So. Dash Point Road, Federal Way, WA. 98003. Phone 253-941-2711. We are also celebrating a Memorial Service in our home town, Port Alberni, B.C - on Vancouver Island, at the First Baptist Church, Sat. Aug. 23rd at 1:00pm, where our nephew, Pastor Bert Thomson, will be officiating. His dad, Albert Thomson, was the first one in our (Gaudet) family to come to Christ under Jim's preaching, at the Baptist Church in Port Alberni in July 1951. What a glorious, long life, walking with Jesus, and what a heritage he has left behind. God Bless Albert! God has done so many miracles for us during Jim's illness. We are most grateful to all who have carried us in prayer. It has made such a wonderful difference for us. Thank you. His grace has been abundantly poured out over us. Thank you, Jesus. We will be releasing a biography of Jim's life in our next e-mail. So, bless you, dear family and friends, and please continue to pray for our family - me, Marie, mama - Daughter Anna and husband Garl, their two sons, Keelan in Houston, Texas and Seth and Jennifer Long and family, as well as son, Jim, and his daughter, Chelsea and son Brody, and his son James. Also, our 2nd son, Peter, and his 3 sons, Paul, Mark, and William. We hope to see many of you at the Memorial service in Federal way, WA. and Port Alberni B.C. Aug 23rd. God bless each of you and thank you for being there enjoying His love, protection and bountiful provision, and His Angels He sends to minister to you. (Heb. 1:14). Lovingly, in the joy of the Lord, and in His strength... Be blessed. Marie P.S An added miracle - I am soon to be 91 (Aug. 17), I got my driver's License renewed, Mon. July 12th, for the next 4 years, passing the eye exam, with NO GLASSES! MINISTRIES* *Jim & Marie Watt* *Tel: 253-517-9195 <253-517-9195> - Email: jmbetter at gmail.com * *Web: www.2rbetter.org * August 16, 2014 To the family and friends, it is now one week since we celebrated Jim's memorial service at Christ church in Federal Way Washington. Last Saturday August 9th 2014. I was a very warm and heartfelt celebration. God truly was glorified and Jim's life was honored. A good friend, Ross Johnson, CEO of life messengers Seattle Washington brought the obituary he had written. He also gave a testimony of Jim's faithfulness's serving as a Life Messenger board member for 20 years. We are sending the obituary Ross wrote showing the many faucets of Jim's life and ministry. We are so grateful for friends love and prayers. Lovingly, Marie for the family Jim Watt July 5, 1923-July 19, 2014 Jim was an honors student, Canadian Navy man, Seminary graduate, husband, father, pastor and assistant pastor of a number of churches, evangelist, conference speaker, author and friend. James Alexander Watt was born in Crossett, Arkansas of Canadian parents. His parents moved back to Canada in 1931. James is a direct descendent of James Watt who ignited the industrial revolution by his improvements to the steam engine. His inventions made the steam engine more than five times more efficient. Jim found his true calling in life, at twenty years of age. He would preach, teach and lead in the Church. At a young age he received the filling of the Holy Spirit which ignited his Godly passions. A passion for accurate, faithful teaching of the Bible was his. He became a church pastor while going through Seminary and saw churches and those under his ministry grow in numbers as well as maturity. Over the years his inspiring, joyful presence reflected the grace of God to those he was around. After leaving his presence, people were always lifted in hopefulness. He could just make you feel good about yourself?and hopeful in God?s care and grace. He was the ultimate breath of fresh air. Jim?s nature was that of a true peacemaker and a great listener. Through many relationships with other pastors, church leaders, church members, friends and his own instructors in many circumstances, Jim?s life was blessed and enriched. Jim was not one to seek the limelight but paved the way for others to receive honor and recognition, others, others, others this was the passion of his heart, teach, teach, teach, pray, pray, pray for others to be set free to be true builders together with God?s Spirit in the building up of every aspect of God?s eternal kingdom. He would call himself a ?Barnabas? after the apostle Paul?s faithful companion. He was a peacemaker, working to bring pastors of a city together for the common good in every city he lived in. He and his wife Marie had a Bible reading and prayer time together daily praying for others on their prayer list. Jim found the true love of his life in French Canadian Marie Gaudet. They were married in 1948 and were the proud parents of three children. They lived and pastored in several cities; Chicago, Arcata,CA, Surrey, B.C., Seattle, and LeDuc, Alberta. His printed guide, Through The Bible in a Year, was published into the millions. After the children were grown, Marie joined in speaking and traveling at times with Jim at seminars and missions conferences including in Cairo, Egypt. He traveled alone to numerous US cities over the years as evangelist and speaker. Jim ministered in Northern India for a month, and spent time in other foreign cities including a time of study in Jerusalem. For seventeen years, at the same time he was pastoring, he was a door opener, assistant, and secretary for Rochunga Pudaite of Bibles for the World. He and Marie invested much, including finance, to this vital mission which planted churches and schools in India and distributed millions of Bibles. During the Jesus People movement in the ?60?s and ?70?s he served as advisor to the local leaders of that movement in the Seattle area using his wisdom and insight to help avoid mistakes. In May 1952, Jim graduated from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago. Later he received his M. Divinity, also from Northern. He was ordained in Chicago by the American Baptist Denomination. In his middle eighties he took on the monumental task of bringing together his previous extended work on Ivan Panin?s work on the Greek New Testament into a useful set of four volumes for the common person. He labored for thousands of hours on this project over the years finally completing it and seeing it in print in 2012. To sum his life up he was always focused on the eternal perspective. He was a true visionary who constantly worked to stir up vision in others. He resolutely followed Jesus exhortation to us all??Seek First the Kingdom of God?. From the days of his early ministry Jim was mindful of the significance of honoring the Jewish roots of the gospel. Jim?s ?gospel switch? was always in the ?ON? position. ?Occupy till I come? were Jesus words to the faithful and he took that command seriously. He stood as a sentry, not with a machine gun, but with an open Bible, upon his knees, in his speech, with his pen, and later his computer, always striving to know and love God and to make Him known and loved. Please visit Jim?s website: www.2rbetter.org there you will find a wealth of his writings. Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie (Gaudet). Son Jim, grandson James, granddaughter Chelsea, great grandson Broderick Maier Daughter Anna (Garl) Long, grandsons Dr. Seth Long (wife Jennifer Long) & Keelan Long, great grandchildren Luke and Kaylee Long. Since Jim?s home call July 19th, 2014, there have not been any mailings to speak of, since I am computer illiterate. However, so many times things have come up, and I?ve thought, ?If Jim were here, he?d want to send something out on this?. He has so much material on his web site that could easily be sent out again. One of my favorite articles is on the challenge of praying for the Salvation of our loved ones in our clan. We had so many responses and testimonies about ?Clan Salvation?. The most remarkable answer to prayer for our family, was finding our half-brother, Gerard Gaudet. When my parents married in Kamloops, B.C, Oct. 31, 1922, each had lost their spouse, and each had a child. My mother?s first husband, Azarie Riendeau of Montreal, P.Q, died in November, 1918, from the ?Great Influenza? that swept the world. They had married Jan. 18th, 1918. Then her daughter, my half-sister, was born April 10th, 1919. So my widowed mother, now had an infant to care for. Fortunately, friends and since found family, were there for her. Meanwhile, my father?s first wife, Emma Pronovost, died May 1921, leaving a young son, Gerard Gaudet, born Dec. 2 1920. My father left his son, with his wife?s parents, and never returned for him. Gerard always waited for his father to come and get him, but that never happened. Gerard?s mother?s sister took him in, and she and her husband raised him. They had no children of their own. So Gerard was God?s gift to them. They never adopted him so he remained Gerard Gaudet. This is how we were able to find him. When my parents married, my mother?s daughter Claire was with them. She would have been 3 ? years old. My parents moved to Port Alberni, on Vancouver Island, in B.C in March 1923. I was their ?delight? by joining this new family Aug, 17, 1923. The first of nine more to come! My youngest brother, Paul, the ?baby? of the family, always says he was the last, because the ?perfect? one had now come along, there was no need of any other children! Our family always knew of Gerard, but didn?t know where he was. I remember my mother writing letters to different places in Puebeo hoping to find him, But no responses came. When Jack Hayford, a 4-sq. Pastor from L.A came to speak in our church, First Baptist of Arcata, CA. in August 1982, he threw out the challenge of praying for ?our clans?, people with the same surname of our families. Jim took the challenge seriously. The next morning, as our custom was to pray together each morning, he started praying for all the Watt?s, all the Gaudet?s (my maiden name), and any other relative names he could think of. ?If 2 of you shall agree together, God will answer, doing miracles? ? Matt 18:19. If you can find ?Clan Salvation? on our website (dated Nov. 16, 2001), you?ll read the miracles God did in our family. We found my half-brother, Gerard, in April 1996. When we started praying we didn?t even know if he was alive, what his name might be, or where he could be. We had prayed to find Gerard, knowing God loves families, and confessing Acts 16:31, ?Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, thou shalt be saved, and thy house?. We were in Covenant with God. ?He watches over His word to confirm it (to bring it to pass)?. ? Jer. 1:12 We also could visualize the Word, ?as a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? ? Jer. 23:29. God has not changed. He is the same today, as He was yesterday, and will be tomorrow. Praise his Holy name. Now the reason I am sharing our finding Gerard, is to implode in you such a desire to pray and see God Glorified, and our Lord Jesus Christ exalted, in helping Keelan in his next endeavor. You will remember our grandson Keelan who taught Grandpa Jim how to navigate a computer, and did all his mailings, etc. Without Keelan, Jim would never have been able to send out his writings as he did weekly (often more). So this mailing is to ask for your prayers for Keelan. 3 ? years ago your prayers helped him travel safely across the U.S, beginning in Mount Vernon, Washington, to Houston, Texas in his 1992 Ford Contour, loaded to the gills. His drive took five days in April 2011. He is still in Houston working for a computer security firm. The company is now sending him to their Satellite branch in Cardiff, Wales, to help set the program in place. Apparently, there are about 100 people in this office. Keelan is to work with the project Engineer to model it after their Houston Headquarters. He?ll be there for two weeks, and then plans on taking two weeks to visit Europe. Quite an undertaking for a young man alone. Should God speak to your heart to pray for his business trip to be successful and the two weeks traveling Europe be a blessing; covered by the security of the Lord Jesus Christ, and His Angels. ?When Jesus putteth forth His sheep, He always goes before?. John 10:24. Amen. Proverbs 3:5-6 ? Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding?. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths?. See Angels leading, guiding, and directing: PS.91:11 PS. 103:20 Exodus 23:20, 23 Heb. 1:14 It?s good to touch base again with you. Bless you for all your prayers and love for our family. Incidentally, God has wonderfully gifted me with my grandson, Paul Watt, 23 years old, finishing up his last two quarters on his B.A on Economics at University of Washington, Tacoma. He has been living with us since June 19, 2014, and such a joy and blessing. He is sending out this computer mailing. Thanks be to God. Lovingly, with prayer, Marie *TO SUBSCRIBE - Please Email: mailing-subscribe at 2rbetter.org * *TO UNSUBSCRIBE - Please Email: mailing-unsubscribe at 2rbetter.org * *FOR ARCHIVE ARTICLES - Web:http://2rbetter.org/pipermail/mailing/ * -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
